How to transfer files between devices
Send files between phones and computers in a browser. Pair with a code, check the connection, and transfer without uploading the file to cloud storage.

To transfer a file between two devices, open flies in a browser on each one. Connect them with the pairing code or QR code, check that the four symbols match, then choose a file to send. You do not need an account or an app.
Send a file in three steps
1. Pair the devices
Open flies in a browser on both devices: a phone, tablet or computer. Create a session on the first device. On the other, enter the 6-character code or scan the QR code. A pairing code lasts up to 15 minutes.
2. Check the safety symbols
Both screens show four symbols. Compare them and confirm on each device if they match. If they differ, end the session and try again. The check can be disabled in settings, but leaving it on helps verify the connection.
3. Choose files or paste text
Either device can send files, text and links. You can send several files in both directions. The receiving device keeps what it saves locally; flies does not put a copy in cloud storage.
Does it work between different devices?
Yes. You can send a file from an iPhone to a Windows PC, an Android phone to a Mac, or between other modern browsers. Both devices do not have to be on the same Wi-Fi. When a firewall prevents a direct connection, flies can forward encrypted traffic through a relay.
What are the limits?
flies sets no file size limit for a direct transfer. In Chrome and Edge on a computer, saving to a folder writes a received file to disk as it arrives. Other browsers may hold it in memory, so large files depend on the device’s available memory. Relay transfers have a limit of 500 MB per device each month, counting data sent and received together.
Where does the file go?
The file travels over an end-to-end encrypted connection. With a direct connection it moves between the devices. If a relay is needed, the relay forwards encrypted packets but cannot read the file or store a copy. Read the privacy policy for what the connection service does handle.
